History Caledonian 134

The history of the Caledonian Lodge is both fascinating and tantalising.

We also have beautiful, unique and highly prized artefacts. The Principles of Freemasonry

  • Brotherly Love:

Freemasonry instils the principles of respect and tolerance into every true Freemason. Freemasons are expected to show respect for the opinions of others and show kindness and understanding to all of the world’s creatures. On this principle, Masonry unites men of every country, sect, and opinion, and conciliates true friendship.
  • Relief:

Freemasons embody the principles of charity and care, not only for their family but the community as a whole. Through charitable giving, voluntary efforts and the works of the individual, Freemasons aspire to relieve the distress of the less fortunate regardless of faith, colour or country.
  • Truth:

To be good and true is one of the first lessons we are taught in Masonry. Freemasons strive to be honest and truthful in word and action. Aiming for a high standard of morals and decency in behaviour, Masonry requires high moral standards and its members endeavour to uphold these principles in their public and private lives.
